Private healthcare cashback scheme pays out big!
In May 2016 we launched our private healthcare cashback scheme to help members cover 50% of the excess on their employer provided policy. It quickly became one of our most used and popular membership benefits. With Covid-19 and resulting backlogs, along with continued real-term cuts to NHS spending, more people are turning to private healthcare companies to seek treatment.
Since we launched our cashback scheme, we’ve paid a staggering £532,467.55. In 2023 alone we put almost £80,000 back into the pockets of 1,093 members.
When we launched the scheme, we weren’t content and have continued to campaign on improved access to health care:
- Thanks to Accord’s continued efforts, we secured a reduction in the excess applied to the Lloyds Banking Group healthcare policy from £200 down to £150, applied from the 1st January 2020.
- We disagreed with the approach TSB was taking in providing private healthcare as a grade related perk, and in November 2022 we finally persuaded TSB to extend their offering to all colleagues.
- We’ve also campaigned to extend the coverage of policies throughout this time.
