Compensation for work-related stress
We instructed our solicitors to pursue a claim to recover damages for development of work-related stress for one of our members following several issues with their employer. Our member developed work related stress in or around February 2019 and that lasted for approximately one year.
Compensation claims for work-related stress are far from straightforward. In this case, partly thanks to diligent work by our member’s GP, our member had several absences from work all noted as work related stress and, following a return to work and a failure by their employer to change their behaviour, our member was signed off with work related stress again. That second absence created the opportunity to pursue a claim for compensation.
Our member received a settle of £5,000 which, given the thankfully relatively moderate symptoms our member suffered, is a good settlement sum. Our member will receive that amount in full and our legal fees will be paid by the Defenders. They will also pay for the medical expert we instructed.
Successes in these types of cases are few and far between so this is a good result for the member, and they are pleased with the outcome.
