A message from My Cancer My Choices

In June 2021 we reported that we'd provided the local charity My Cancer My Choices with a new home as a tenant at Accord HQ. Well now they've been honoured with a highly prestigious award. We're proud to be able to support My Cancer My Choices' journey!!

Here's the message we got from them...

Every win counts

We’re pleased to report that with support from our solicitors, a member received a settlement of £3,500 for a trapped finger in a freezer at a supermarket. The supermarket denied liability, but their solicitors soon saw sense and settled.

Thank you from Give a Hand

Delegates to Accord’s biennial conference in May 2022 supported the Give a Hand programme which we reported in our August 2022 conference special magazine. We received an update from the programme that we’re sharing. But first, here’s a quick recap.

Our delegates worked together to build nearly 60 real, clinical, prosthetic hands that will be sent to individuals across developing world to transform their lives.

The built hands last from seven to eleven years and allow patients to feed, clothe and wash themselves. The impact is unimaginable.

The update

In the last month we received an update from the Give a Hand programme, sharing the photo here of the prosthetic hands our delegates built having been fitted to a recipient.

It’s truly wonderful to know what a difference this hand will make to this man’s life.

“Thank you to everyone at Accord for supporting such a worthy cause.” Claire Walker, Operations Director, Give a Hand.
