Remembering the friends we've recently lost: Maura Kelly, Marilyn Morris, Keith Sartain, and Helen Freeman.
Maura was a hugely popular member of Accord’s Principal Executive Council and well known in the Gasworks site in Belfast for the great work she did for her colleagues and Accord over the years. She passed away in June 2021 and is sorely missed by everybody who knew and loved her.
Donations were made to support foodbanks in east and west Belfast in tribute of Maura.
Marilyn began her Accord career when she started working for the Halifax in Harlow in 1989. She rose to become President and was in the role during the financial crisis of 2008 which lead to the take-over of HBOS by Lloyds TSB and all that that entailed afterwards.
Marilyn sadly passed away in August 2021 after a long illness.
Keith worked in branches in Liverpool for 45 years and was a regular face at Accord meetings and conferences.
He served as a rep for many years and was chair of the North West executive committee too.
Keith was always popular but sadly, didn’t live to enjoy his hard earned retirement for very long. He died in March 2021 at the age of 68.
After a career in the Halifax, Helen left the bank and took up a freelance position as editor of My Accord magazine in 2010.
She was bubbly, well-known and popular as she chased down our staff and reps for their stories.
Tragically, she died in April 2022 at the age of 49 leaving her husband Rob and their two sons.
