Leaving your employer doesn't mean you have to leave your union.
Did you know that you're entitled to be a member of the union of your choice, no matter who your employer is? If there’s a union at your new workplace, we recommend you join them for the simple reason they'll be involved in negotiating your terms and conditions of employment. But if there isn’t, then we’re well placed to look after your individual needs. Stay with us as an associate member.
Retiring or leaving on redundancy? You may not need the union for employment matters anymore, but you can retain your membership and make use of our benefits like our travel club, legal advice and will writing services. You can also remain in our monthly lottery draw to be in with the chance of winning £5k every month!

Going on maternity/adoption/shared parental leave doesn't mean you have to cancel your union membership. Did you know you may be entitled to free membership for up to 12 months?*
It's easy to let us know you're going on leave through an online form - be sure to provide us with everything we need to process your application.
While you're on leave, you'll still be able to use our services and Accord benefits. And when you're ready to return to work, we'll be on hand to help answer your questions. If something happens while you're on leave, such as a business restructure, we'll help you understand your rights and support you through the process.

We strive to do our best for our members and if we’ve let you down, we’re sorry. Before you go, we’d like to try to put things right. Send an email to [email protected] and we’ll do what we can to help.
If you remain unhappy, we’ll organise for your membership to be cancelled and we’ll not charge you the months’ notice you’re supposed to give.
You’re entitled to join the union of your choice. But we hoped it would be us!
