Sandwich generation carers are people who have caring responsibilities at both ends of the age spectrum. They’re still looking after their children but also look after an elderly relative, usually a parent. There are estimated to be 2.4 million sandwich generations carers in the UK and at times their lives can feel very stretched by these responsibilities, especially if they're also holding down a busy job.
We've teamed up with the Bank Workers Charity to explore different aspects of the lives of sandwich generation carers and review steps psychologists have identified to help avoid the multiple demands taking a toll on health and wellbeing.

This webinar from the Bank Workers Charity will explore social wellbeing and the impact of loneliness at work and will identify some steps we can take to make our workplace environment more supportive of our social wellbeing needs.
Until the pandemic, social wellbeing took a back seat behind mental health and physical wellbeing in most organisations’ thinking about wellbeing at work. COVID-19 changed all that. With large numbers of employees working remotely and missing out on the social dimension of work, the pandemic revealed just how important social wellbeing is.
Loneliness has been found to have the same negative health impact as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. And recent research has shown the importance of even small-scale social exchanges to our overall wellbeing.
It’s assumed older people struggle most with loneliness but it’s actually most common among younger employees. How can we build our connections and protect ourselves against loneliness? This webinar from the Bank Workers Charity will explore social wellbeing and the impact of loneliness at work and will identify some steps we can take to make our workplace environment more supportive of our social wellbeing needs.
