New recognition agreement

Robin-Ged-Andy

Accord and Unite have signed a refreshed agreement with TSB committing all parties to work together on the issues that are important to TSB staff.

Accord's General Secretary, Ged Nichols, said:

“Accord has had a strong relationship with TSB since the bank was created, through the best times and the times that weren’t so good.

We worked together on the help that has already been announced to support TSB staff with cost-of-living challenges. Clearly, as the situation continues to change there is more to do and this agreement signals a positive intention to engage constructively together to do our very best for all TSB staff.”

One technical change is that staff in Grade G will no longer be within the scope of the agreement but they will continue to be welcome and valued members of Accord, and we’ll continue to respond to their individual needs.

Cost of living

It’s a worrying time for everyone with rising inflation, interest rates and increasing energy costs.

Whilst the government has announced a cap on energy prices effective from January 2023, there is still a major hike in costs for most bill payers.

We worked with TSB to deliver the £1,000 support payment. The second half payment is due in February which seems like a long way off.

Therefore, we’ve been talking with TSB about what further support could be provided using the intelligence gleaned from the Total Reward Survey in May ahead of the 2023 pay review which is due in April, as it’s clear that employees will need more support before then.

Talks are ongoing and more information will be provided as soon as possible.

Redundancy terms

The redundancy terms for former HBOS staff (who were employed by HBOS prior to 1st January 2012 and were transferred to TSB) are due to be reviewed at the end of 2022.

We’re very pleased that the terms will be unchanged and will remain in place for a further five-year period from 1st January 2023.

Mark Henderson joins Accord

Mark-Henderson

We’re delighted to announce that following a recruitment and selection process earlier in the year, Mark Henderson has been appointed as a new Regional Officer for Accord. Mark will be covering the north of England – you can read more about his appointment here.

In the TSB world, he’ll be working closely with Linda Crouch, Accord’s Head of Membership and Services in TSB, and with Michelle White, our Senior Accord rep who is based in the North region.

Mark will be planning visits across his patch and is looking forward to meeting members. If you’d like to arrange an Accord visit or speak with Mark for advice and support, you can contact him by email: [email protected] or by phone: 07500 841 573.

BWC's hardship fund

TSB has donated a significant amount of money to a hardship fund to be managed by the Bank Workers Charity (BWC) for the exclusive benefit of TSB employees in need. You can find out more via TSB’s Hardship Fund intranet page (this is an internal TSB link that won't be accessible on external devices).

The BWC works closely with TSB and Accord and you can find more information about the support it provides via their website. Or you can contact the charity directly on 0800 0234 834.
