A mixed picture across the sites
The results of the ballot are in, with a 60% response rate – so thank you for sharing your views.
51.8% of members voted in favour of accepting option one, and 48.1% in favour of rejecting both offers. However, when broken down by site, 69% in the Leeds sites were in favour of option one and 64% rejected it in the Copley site.
Unite’s ballot in Copley also reached a reject response.
On this basis, we have neither agreed or rejected the proposals and left it with Communisis to consider our members' feedback.
Your feedback
The general theme of the feedback that we received was as follows:
- You felt this was a breach of the trust (i.e. disregarding the previous agreement)
- That you did not have sufficient trust that Communisis would stick to the agreement if a new one was made now given they were disregarding the original 3 year deal
- Because Communisis can’t guarantee job losses wouldn’t occur, whichever way you voted. Some members felt that you may as well reject the proposals and you’d be no worse off
We’ve left this with Communisis and will communicate their response as soon as we have one.
