Your guide to reducing stress and building resilience
A little bit of stress can be good for us, it can motivate us to get things done and can help improve our alertness, performance and memory. But too much stress can lead to headaches, tiredness and irritability.
We all experience stress from time to time, but it’s how we deal with it which determines whether it becomes unmanageable or not, and this all comes down to our resilience.
What is resilience?
Our resilience is based on how well we deal with, and bounce back from difficult experiences. Some of us may be able to carry on without a second thought, but others might find stressful situations overwhelming. When faced with unavoidable life events, our resilience is what helps us adapt so we’re able to tackle these difficulties head on.
But we’re not born resilient - it’s something we can develop over time.
Today, on International Stress Awareness Day - take a moment to think about how you can improve your mental wellbeing and protect yourself from the negative effects of stress.
