20 June 2017: Lloyds announces closure of Dundee telephony centre – 250 jobs to go by Christmas
Lloyds Banking Group announced plans today to close its telephone banking operation in Dundee before the end of 2017 with the loss of 250 jobs.
Accord has been in contact with the members impacted by the plans and will be holding meetings with them in Dundee tomorrow to discuss how best to respond.
Commenting Accord’s Ged Nichols said:
“This is a body blow for the City of Dundee. It’s difficult to see how this fits with Lloyds Banking Group’s commitment to ‘Helping Britain Prosper’.
We’ve asked for a full social and economic impact analysis to be undertaken and for the bank to consider alternatives to the site closure even at this late stage.”
