Bank Workers Charity

The Bankers Benevolent Fund has changed its name, no doubt to distance itself from the ‘greedy-not-needy’ image widely associated with the word ‘banker’ these days. The charity is now known as the Bank Workers Charity. It provides a range of help for current and former banking staff and their families, through information, advice and financial support. The helpline number is 0800 0234 834.

Amnesty International

amnesty international Amnesty International works to promote all the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international standards. In particular, Amnesty International campaigns to free all prisoners of conscience; ensure fair and prompt trials for political prisoners; abolish the death penalty, torture and other cruel treatment of prisoners; end political killings and ‘disappearances’; and oppose human rights’ abuses by opposition groups.

The Commission works in partnership with individuals and organisations for a fair and just society, which values diversity and gives everyone an equal chance to work, learn and live free from discrimination, prejudice and racism.

Maternity Action

Maternity Action  works to end inequality and promote the health and well-being of all pregnant women, their partners and children. It has a telephone advice line covering employment rights and benefits for pregnant women and new parents during pregnancy, leave and return to work.  The number is 0845 600 8533.

National Pensioners Convention
