Bank Workers Charity
The Bankers Benevolent Fund has changed its name, no doubt to distance itself from the ‘greedy-not-needy’ image widely associated with the word ‘banker’ these days. The charity is now known as the Bank Workers Charity. It provides a range of help for current and former banking staff and their families, through information, advice and financial support. The helpline number is 0800 0234 834.
Amnesty International
Amnesty International works to promote all the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international standards. In particular, Amnesty International campaigns to free all prisoners of conscience; ensure fair and prompt trials for political prisoners; abolish the death penalty, torture and other cruel treatment of prisoners; end political killings and ‘disappearances’; and oppose human rights’ abuses by opposition groups.
Equality & Human Rights Commission
The Commission works in partnership with individuals and organisations for a fair and just society, which values diversity and gives everyone an equal chance to work, learn and live free from discrimination, prejudice and racism.

Maternity Action
Maternity Action works to end inequality and promote the health and well-being of all pregnant women, their partners and children. It has a telephone advice line covering employment rights and benefits for pregnant women and new parents during pregnancy, leave and return to work. The number is 0845 600 8533.
National Pensioners Convention
The National Pensioners Convention (NPC) is Britain’s biggest pensioner organisation representing over 1,000 local, regional and national pensioner groups with a total of 1.5m members. The NPC’s main objective is to promote the welfare and interests of all pensioners, as a way of securing dignity, respect and financial security in retirement.
NSPCC & Children 1st
The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) and its sister charity CHILDREN 1ST in Scotland specialise in child protection and the prevention of cruelty to children.

Stonewall
Stonewall is the national lobby group working for equality and justice for lesbians, gay men and bisexuals. The organisation was formed in 1989, initially to fight the introduction of Section 28. Since then, its work has expanded to include political lobbying, awareness raising and information provision.
Trades Union Congress
Accord is affiliated to the Trades Union Congress. The TUC has 58 affiliated unions, representing 6.2m working people from all walks of life. Affiliated unions receive a range of services including training, recruitment advice and help with policy development.
