Accord has 30,000 members across the UK, with around 1,000 fully trained workplace reps. Each rep is on hand to help any member who needs advice or support. With a growing membership, more reps are needed in many UK locations.
There are many benefits to being a rep. As well as receiving excellent training, reps often find their union work helps their career path.
LBG gives paid time-off for training and attending meetings and there’s always a friendly voice at the end of the phone at Union HQ if you need information. The Union’s team of full-time officers are also available if you need some extra support.
Reps are elected by fellow members in their workplace for a period of up to two years at a time. The last national election was in September 2009, although they can take place at any time if a vacancy arises.
If your workplace doesn’t have a rep at present, why not take on the role? It’s important, very rewarding, not too time-consuming and most reps really enjoy it!
